Hope is a Mainstay

At the very center core of humanity lies an innate
desire to expect, to believe in something deeply.
Not in the simple definition of expect and believe,
but to cling to ideals as if one’s very
life depended on them.
There is a heart beat that stabilizes
even the most tumultuous existence.
Though it’s been beaten down, sucked out, hung dry,
there is not a crucible that can separate it from those
earnest to know it’s sustaining power.
It’s concrete, like a structure you
can build something on. It’s eternal.
The spring’s source, fed by sheer
stubbornness to keep bubbling.
There is something deeper, wider, greater, longer,
higher, kinder,
more self-sacrificing than anything thus
created by man.
Hope is a mainstay - a support - until a day comes
when He who designed it comes to fulfill it.
